A knowledge hub on migrant integration in the Nordics

Integration Norden wants to help stakeholders in the Nordic countries in developing integration initiatives and policies and to work more closely together. The objective is to strengthen the possibilities for refugees and immigrants to become active members of society.

We generate and disseminate research-based knowledge and collect examples of promising integration work from the Nordic countries. The tasks are steered by the ministers responsible for integration and for Nordic co-operation, and the Nordic Council of Ministers. The work is carried out by the Nordic Welfare Centre.

We generate and disseminate research-based knowledge and collect examples of promising integration work from the Nordic countries – contributing to the vision of making the Nordic region the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.

We support the exchange of experiences and the building of networks across borders, as the Nordic countries have a lot to learn from each other.

In the autumn of 2016, the Nordic Welfare Centre was commissioned by the Nordic Council of Ministers to manage the project “Nordic Cooperation on Integration” in close collaboration with Nordregio. The responsible Nordic ministers aim to promote increased knowledge exchange between countries, focusing on measures that facilitate integration and how immigrants and refugees can contribute to the development of the Nordic countries.

o not hesitate to contact us if you need tips on other actors or individuals within the field of integration who are working on similar issues as you. We regularly organize Nordic seminars on various themes where you can network and exchange experiences with colleagues from other Nordic countries. You are also welcome to reach out to us if you want to connect with our Nordic networks. Contact and press – Nordic integration

How Integration Norden contributes to Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision of 2030.

Integration Norden strengthens Nordic cooperation by building a shared, evidence‑based knowledge base on integration of migrants. Integration Norden produce and disseminating comparative research, statistics, and policy‑relevant analyses, hereby supporting informed decision‑making. Integration Norden contributes to a better use of skills and competences in the Nordic societies, supporting long‑term social and economic sustainability.

By making comparable and reliable knowledge more accessible, Integration Norden helps address structural barriers to employment, supports language acquisition and skills recognition, and improves understanding of how integration systems function across Nordic countries and self-governing areas. The efforts contribute to support a goal of increased mobility, stronger attachment to the labour market, and greater opportunities for people to live and work across the Nordic borders.

Integration Norden also functions as a Nordic platform for knowledge exchange and cooperation. Through publications, expert networks, conferences, and webinars, the initiative promotes collaboration between public authorities, researchers, and civil‑society actors, contributing to shared Nordic solutions.

Integration Norden try to contribute to long‑term social cohesion by generating and sharing knowledge on the living conditions and inclusion of immigrants and their children. By highlighting factors that shape opportunities in education, participation, and working life, the platform supports equal opportunities and sustainable outcomes across generations.

Together, these efforts contribute to a more integrated, inclusive, resilient, and socially sustainable Nordic region, in line with the Nordic vision for 2030.
